Is Mobile Holding Your Business Back?

When we manage lead generation programs for our clients, one of the things we do is create landing pages for both computers and mobile devices. A landing page is a special web page that is designed in a very specific way to get people to leave you their contact information. We typically tie our lead generation campaigns to Facebook Advertising, and we can use our analytics platform to find out if people viewed the computer or mobile version of our landing pages.

And interestingly, we have noticed for all of our clients that the vast majority of people who visit the landing pages come on mobile. At least 75%. What this tells us is that the web experience is very different today than it was even 5 years ago. People are interacting with us on much smaller screens.

Think about the last time you visited a website on your mobile device. Did the site adapt, making it easy for you to navigate? Or did you get a tiny version of the desktop site, requiring you to zoom in and out in order to read anything? If it was the latter, it’s likely you didn’t stay there long.

Which leads us to the main question…how mobile is your organization? Because people are coming to you from their phones and tablets. Is it easy to interact with you? If not, they are going to go elsewhere. It’s not enough today to have a web page. Every single thing that you offer has to be easily consumed via a mobile device. And if it’s not, you need to fix that.

As organizations seek to connect with new prospects, we have to think about how they want to communicate with us. Today, when people think of something or have a question, they pull out their phones. They don’t wait until they are in front of a computer. Immediacy is key. And therefore every organization has to be mobile friendly. This isn’t something you can wait for anymore.

Fortunately, it is fairly easy to do. Websites can be updated with mobile-responsive WordPress¬†themes. Social networks are designed to be mobile friendly, and your business can have a presence there. Of course, it’s important to make sure that all of these presences have the information that people are looking for. So be sure that your communication strategy takes into account the kinds of information people want from you, and when they need it. This is the first step to reaching the people who will help your organization grow.
